Voices from Auburn

This poetry reading took place on January 31, 2010 at the Flying Squirrel Community Center in Rochester, NY.

In 2001, Jalil started a poetry class under the auspices of the Lifers Committee, which at that time had just completed a sociology class that he initiated. Ms. Patricia R. Schwartz, a poet, agreed to come into Auburn and be the volunteer facilitator for the class. She has been faithfully facilitating the class for nine years. These videos were produced by friends of Ms. Schwartz in support of the prisoners of Auburn's poetry class; the readings are from a compilation of the prisoners' poetry, a book that is dedicated to Jalil.
